NFL Week 6 Preview

Best Bets

2 Pts Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5) to beat the Washington Redskins (19/20 Coral)

2 Pts Pittsburgh Steelers (-7.5) to beat the Miami Dolphins (21/20 Paddy Power)

0.5 Pts New York Jets/Arizona Cardinals Half Time/ Full Time Market (13/2 Paddy Power)

We have been on a hot run of form with our NFL tips in the last few weeks and although there are a few tricky matchups to call this week we feel there is value out there in the following bets.

2 Pts Philadelphia Eagles (-2.5) to beat the Washington Redskins (19/20 Coral)

By simply looking at the standings one might think that this Philly Washington matchup should be close. The records don’t tell the whole story however and the Redskins might count themselves fortunate to have a 3-2 record. On the other hand the Eagles sit at 3-1 and look like serious contenders this year.

Rookie quarterback Carson Wentz looks the real deal and this should be another opportunity for him to shine. Aside from Josh Norman the Redskins pass defence isn’t great and Wentz will do well to air it out away from Norman. Kirk Cousins has looked average at best for Washington and this Eagles front seven will terrify him going into Sundays match.

If Cousins becomes rattled early, this one could get ugly for the Redskins, but we prefer to take a conservative approach and simply take the Eagles to cover the spread.

2 Pts Pittsburgh Steelers (-7.5) to beat the Miami Dolphins (21/20 Paddy Power)

The Steelers are looking to blow you out with their explosive offensive attack and they should achieve that again this week. On paper this looks like the perfect matchup for the Steelers who should run riot on the Miami secondary. Miami have been cutting players to try and freshen things up for this struggling side and this really isn’t the ideal environment for new players coming in trying to learn the system.

We went for the Steelers last week and they covered a large spread against a team who we think are superior to the Dolphins. Furthermore they never really hit top gear, and as long as they half show up this week beating the Dolphins by more than 7 should not be a problem.

0.5 Pts New York Jets/Arizona Cardinals Half Time/ Full Time Market (13/2 Paddy Power)

The Cardinals have been struggling of late, and sitting at 2-3 they know that a win here is vital. Carson Palmer is also back from the concussion protocol and will return immediately to lead the Arizona attack. On the other hand the Jets have been completely awful in the last few weeks and they already find themselves in a position where they don’t have much to lose.

We think that the Jets will come out firing, and coupled with the fact that there is a great deal of pressure on Arizona and Palmer, the Jets could find themselves in a first half lead. In the second half class should prevail however and we feel that Arizona can overturn a deficit against a weaker team. Odds of greater than 6/1 on this happening seem generous and we feel this is worth a small play.
