The playoff picture is really starting to take shape at the moment with a few teams all but locked in for the postseason. The Panthers have already booked their playoff tickets with a 12-0 record enough to clinch the NFC South. This week we bring to you our weekly tip which focuses on the Thursday night matchup between the Vikings and the Cards.

In our eyes there has been an overreaction to the Vikings losing against the Seahawks heavily last weekend. The odds are suggesting a blowout win for the Cardinals when they face the Vikings on Thursday night and we just don’t see it that way. The Vikings have surprised a lot of people this year and have played great football to be sitting at 8-4 at this point in the season. They play as well on the road as they do at home which counts in their favour for this road matchup against the Cards. Nobody can dispute that the Cardinals remain one of the key Super Bowl contenders this year, but their home form is marginally worse than their road form. They still sit at 10-2 however and are on a six game winning streak.

Don’t get us wrong the Cardinals are worthy favourites for this matchup, but a 7.5 point spread is too heavy and doesn’t do the Vikings justice. This is a pressure matchup for the Cardinals who are expected to win and continue their dominance towards the playoffs. They might get the job done but we see this being a one possession game with overtime or a winning field goal being a strong possibility. Go with the Vikings on the spread on this one which looks great value.
