Bore Draw at Stamford Bridge

Best Bets:

2 Pts on Chelsea vs Liverpool under 2.5 Goals (Evs Will Hill)

1 Pt on Chelsea vs Liverpool No Goalscorer (12/1 Sky Bet)

There is another big weekend ahead in the Premier League, with some early pacesetters facing testing matches away from home. West Ham face a solid Watford side, Arsenal travel to Swansea and Manchester United look to overcome Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, all of which could be decided by the odd goal.

There are likely home wins in Manchester City vs Norwich, Southampton vs Bournemouth and Spurs vs Aston Villa (no matter who is in charge). However, the odds reflect those expectations & therefore it could be worth looking for value in the home team to win both halves.

While these home wins were considered by us, there was one away win that caught our interest. Leicester to win away at West Brom with both teams to score seems generous odds, but with the overall market trending towards a draw we’ve looked elsewhere for our tips.

Our Tips:

2 Pts on Chelsea vs Liverpool under 2.5 Goals (Evs Will Hill)

1 Pt on Chelsea vs Liverpool No Goalscorer (12/1 Sky Bet)

One of the most eagerly anticipated and key fixtures in any given season, but shockingly a mid-table battle currently, sees Liverpool travel to Chelsea. Both sides will be looking to ensure they don’t lose further ground on the other Top 4-6 contenders and all signs point towards a cagey affair.

With Liverpool not yet looking the attacking threat expected under Klopp, even the unsteady Chelsea defence could find themselves taking a clean sheet from this one. The same can be said in reverse, with a still uncertain Liverpool defence possibly benefitting from a misfiring Chelsea front line. The influence of Hazard has been minimal in this campaign and we find ourselves saying “this could be the week” but it has not yet come to pass. Coutinho is possibly finding his feet again with the Klopp approach, but is nowhere near his best at present. Without those 2 on form, both teams seem to be struggling in the attacking third with neither currently boasting a top scorer with more than a third of the goals that Jamie Vardy has scored this season.

It is because of reasons like this that we see this game ending as a bore-draw and decided by less than 2.5 goals.
