Our Tip:

2.5 Pts on Chelsea (-1 Goals) to beat Newcastle (9/5 Coral)

We at Boston Gambler would like to present our first ever Premier League football picks to you, in plenty of time for this weekend’s matches. Firstly, I have to point out that my suggestion will not be for an accumulator on all matches, though I will share my thoughts on various matches below this piece, should you guys want to consider that outside punt option.

The early Saturday matchup should be an enthralling encounter, as early favourites for the Premier League title, Manchester City, travel to London to take on Spurs. While there could well be some value that you usually wouldn’t get on a City win, due to their opponents, there is always the chance of this being the proverbial banana skin that we are always warned about.

Headline Tip:

Therefore, it is last year’s champions Chelsea that I am going to back for to win with a -1 handicap. Newcastle look like suffering even more in front of their expectant & demanding home fans, especially given Chelsea’s results over the past week or so. Just like Newcastle have been criticised, Chelsea have come under intense scrutiny for their somewhat disappointing start to the season, having quickly lost ground to many of the expected rivals for their title. However, unlike Newcastle, they have shown serious signs of turning things around quickly & have seen a 4-0 win in European competition followed up by a 2-0 league win over Arsenal (albeit under controversial circumstances & what could be said to be a wrongful dismissal after the FA overturned the ban).

While they are still not looking like the hypnotising & fluent attacking force they were last season, they have 6 unanswered goals in their past 2 games. They are preparing to take on a Newcastle team that are yet to win at home and are struggling for goals.

Chelsea are struggling by their own elite standards this season & have only scored 4 in their first 3 away games. However after 2 clean sheets in a row, we suggest their defensive woes are easing. I can’t see a questionable Newcastle defence holding Chelsea to anything less than 2 goals, nor can I envision a seemingly toothless forward line scoring at all for Newcastle.
